Position Title
Assistant Professor Department of Psychology

Bio
Dr. Fox leads the Translational Affective Neuroscience group at the University of California, Davis, where he aims to understand the neurobiology that underlies the risk to develop anxiety and depressive disorders. Dr. Fox is a Professor in the Psychology Department and a Core Scientist in Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Systems at the National Biomedical Research Institute. Dr. Fox received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Fox received the A.E. Bennett Clinical/Translational Research Award from SoBP in 2024 for his contributions to our understanding of the neurobiology of anxiety. Dr. Fox's research program leverages the strengths of humans and animal models using varied techniques, from computational models and behavioral analysis, to neuroimaging and single-nuclear RNA-sequencing. Together, this rich and diverse research program promises to provide insight into how genetic and environmental mechanisms work in concert to alter the neurobiology that gives rise to individual differences in the risk for psychopathology, and provide pathways to intervention.
