Bio
Dr. Cameron Sadegh is a pediatric neurosurgeon at the UC Davis Medical Center who subspecializes in minimally-invasive neuroendoscopic techniques and treats patients with hydrocephalus, spina bifida, tumors, vascular lesions, and traumatic brain injuries. Sadegh was designated a Fellow of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and was recently nominated for Sactown Magazine’s 2025 list of Top Doctors.
Sadegh is also a PhD-trained neuroscientist with a research laboratory in Sacramento, based at the Shriner's Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine. His work has appeared in journals such as Neuron, Nature Communications, and Nature Neuroscience. In 2024, Sadegh received several awards for hydrocephalus research, and was named as an Academy Emerging Investigator.
In the "Brain fluids lab,” Sadegh laboratory members are deeply engaged in translational research regarding the cellular mechanisms of cerebral fluid homeostasis, viral gene therapy, and bioengineering. This research has implications for treating cognitive impairment resulting from intrauterine drug exposures, brain hemorrhages, and other conditions that alter brain fluid volume and composition.
The laboratory is affiliated with the Neurosciences Graduate Group (GNES) and the Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine and, in 2025, the Sadegh lab became affiliated with the IPN to better understand how prenatal drug exposures (such as serotonin agonists) might influence brain fluid composition and neurodevelopment in children.
