Bio

Dr. Matthew Citron has been an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at UC Davis
since 2023. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College London and had a Postdoctoral
appointment at UC Santa Barbara. At UC Davis his research focusses on searches for exotic
signatures of physics beyond the standard model using both the general purpose CMS detector
as well as constructing and operating dedicated detectors at the CERN Large Hadron Collider
and beyond. Such efforts require a great deal of creativity in order to both design experiments
and determine how to best exploit them to discover new physics. Dr. Citron is deeply interested
in possible connections between the creativity needed to solve such fundamental physics
problems and the impact of psychedelics and neurotherapeutics.
