Assistant Professor, Department of Neurological Surgery
Dr. Richard L. Price, MD, PhD is currently an Assistant Professor at UC Davis in the Department of Neurological surgery. Dr. Price earned his medical degree and a Ph.D. in neuro-oncology at The Ohio State University in Columbus. Before starting medical school he was awarded a prestigious J William Fulbright Scholarship to study oncology at the Spanish National Cancer Center in Madrid, Spain. He completed a residency in Neurological Surgery at Washington University in St Louis. And then went on to complete a complex and minimally invasive spine fellowship at Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle, Washington. He specializes in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery. He is an expert in applying augmented reality to spine surgery. His research interests include minimally invasive spine surgery outcome studies and developing novel augmented reality applications. Additionally, he is researching the effects of cannabis in the peri-operative period. He working on understanding the role of cannabis for back pain analgesia as well as implication in spine fusion.
