Chemistry Building Addition Opens
The IPN is excited to announce the opening of its laboratory housed in the new addition of the Chemistry Building. This new facility was designed to foster collaboration, innovation and student engagement and will serve as a hub for the IPN’s pharmacological screening efforts.
With modern seminar rooms, the new building is well-equipped to host lectures, workshops and discussions that bring together leading experts and curious minds. Given that IPN affiliates are located across the Davis and Sacramento campuses, these new meeting spaces will promote both in-person and virtual interaction of IPN affiliates from both sides of the causeway.
At the heart of this expansion is a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with advanced technology to usher in a new era of groundbreaking research. This space will house shared equipment and empower our scientists to push the frontiers of discovery, from mechanistic neuropharmacology to the exploration of novel compounds. New staff and faculty offices will provide our dedicated team with the infrastructure needed to continue work outside the lab as well.
For the first time, the Chemistry Building will have a main entrance. A rotating art gallery, curated in collaboration with the Art Department and featuring work by renowned UC Davis faculty, will enhance the space. The addition also includes several communal third places ideal for collaborative study and conversation.
This expansion marks a significant step in our mission to transform mental health care, providing the resources and environment needed for innovation. We look forward to the discoveries and collaborations that will emerge from these spaces! Stay tuned for details about the grand opening in 2025!
